2016 was in a word...extraordinary. Listen Foundation served over 240 individuals in its children's therapy programs, parent education workshops, and professional development classes. We were thrilled to be in a position to offer the first Doreen Pollack Scholarship award to a deserving LSL candidate in their final year of training before taking the certification exam.

NicholasSupporting Listen

A big thank you to all who supported Colorado Gives Day in December! We raised 12 thousand dollars for Listen families, which is just terrific.

Here is a family that you helped by supporting us - they live 3 hours from Denver, but via Tele-Health services can receive the world-class Listening and Spoken Language therapy that makes all the difference:

I want to mention how happy we are with the services being provided by our Listen Therapist. None of the speech therapists in the past understood Nicholas' hearing loss or his difficulty in certain situations to communicate with us or his friends.

When we started with our Listen therapist, Nicholas had a lot of speech problems, but since then his speech has improved tremendously. Children are beginning to understand him at school, at home and at the park/social situations, which is helping to build Nicholas' confidence levels. We have previously had problems with children being mean and excluding Nicholas because they couldn't understand him.

Nicholas really enjoys his therapy sessions. He looks forward to practising what he has learned, and we genuinely couldn't be more grateful. Our therapist is making a huge difference in Nicholas' life and we appreciate her.

It's never too late to make a donation to Listen, simply click on the Donate Now! button and follow the directions. Or use the PayPal Donate . It's that easy! Thank you so much for listening.

Listening and Spoken Language Practice

1. Working toward the earliest possible identification of hearing loss in infants and young children, ideally in the newborn nursery.  Conducting an aggressive program of audiologic management.

2. Seeking the best available sources of medical treatment and technological amplification of sound for the child who is deaf or hard of hearing as early as possible.

3. Helping the child understand the meaning of any sounds heard, including spoken language, and teaching the child's parents how to make sound meaningful to the child all day long.
